Ramp generator using IC 555 timer Experiment Procedure, Observations, Results and Viva 2023

Aim :

To study the operation of a linear triggered ramp generator using IC 555 timer.

 

Apparatus :

555 timer IC, built up circuit of a constant current source using PNP transistor, capacitors, resistors, variable dc, DMM, CRO, power supply, square wave generator.

Procedure :

Circuit by – Rajendra Kumar

  1. Trace the circuit and write all component values.
  2. Make necessary connections as shown in figure.
  3. Switch on the power supply. Keep Vcc = 12V.
  4. Observe and draw the output waveform across the capacitor C, when a trigger pulse of suitable frequency and amplitude is given to pin no. 2 of the timer. Measure the time period and compare it with theoretical value.
  5. Find the slopes of ramp using the given formula and verify from the output waveform.
  6. Repeat steps (4) and (5) for another value of C and for Vcc = 8V.
