Aim :
To study the operation of a linear triggered ramp generator using IC 555 timer.
Apparatus :
555 timer IC, built up circuit of a constant current source using PNP transistor, capacitors, resistors, variable dc, DMM, CRO, power supply, square wave generator.

Procedure :

- Trace the circuit and write all component values.
- Make necessary connections as shown in figure.
- Switch on the power supply. Keep Vcc = 12V.
- Observe and draw the output waveform across the capacitor C, when a trigger pulse of suitable frequency and amplitude is given to pin no. 2 of the timer. Measure the time period and compare it with theoretical value.
- Find the slopes of ramp using the given formula and verify from the output waveform.
- Repeat steps (4) and (5) for another value of C and for Vcc = 8V.
